KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang Appeals All Tribes To Reside Peacefully

DIPHU, Sept 19: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang on Tuesday appealed to all tribes living in Karbi Anglong to reside peacefully and work unitedly despite border issues.

The CEM said this while speaking at the 11th foundation day of the East Karbi Anglong Garo Union held at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe ) memorial town hall in Matipung in Diphu on Tuesday.

Tuliram Ronghang who was the chief guest on the occasion said, “ I will never forget the co-operation, love and blessing showered on me by the Garo community. Every tribe living in Karbi Anglong should have the qualities of love and unity. Irrespective of autonomous and border issues or any other issue we all should work together. To make a new Karbi Anglong, every tribe and community living here should join hands and work together.”

CEM Ronghang also said that “Rongkhang forest issue remains the top agenda in every election. Leaders have kept their promises of providing free land patta as was done by former leaders such as PA Sangma, Elwin Teron, former MP Birensing Engti, former minister Dhoniram Rongpi and Jayanta Rongpi. I have  fulfilled my commitment by providing free land patta to 8712 families including Garo, Dimasa and Karbi of that area.”

The CEM also assured the construction of a hostel and community hall and also provide free land patta to those inhabiting the Klurdung area by November.

President, East Karbi Anglong Garo Union, Prakash Sangma said, “I extended my heartfelt gratitude to KAAC, CEM Tuliram Ronghang for his assurance to construct a hostel and community in the heart of Diphu. I hope he will also help us by providing land patta to the Garo community living in Borlangpher, Nilalung and Klurdung area.”

The foundation day celebrations began with the unfurling of the organizational flag by All Assam Garo Union President, Rakesh Sangma followed with prayers for the departed.

The program was attended by MLA Bidyasing Engleng; executive members of KAAC, Madhuram Lekthe, Richard Tokbi, Kangbura Killing, Prabat Ch. Taro and member of the autonomous council, Avijit Kro, Prabitra Rongpi, Johny Timung, Karom Terangpi and others.
