Releasing the books, the chief executive member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said, “Chairman of KLDB, Longsing Teron has taken the initiative and has spent his time and energy in going to SEBA office not once, but several times for preparation of the textbooks. It was due to dedication and sincere effort by him and his team that today we could release the Karbi MIL textbooks.”

He further said, “I see the people are not enthusiastic about supporting the Karbi Lammet Amei. This programme is related to the development of our mother tongue. It is a big achievement that Karbi language is being recognised as MIL. According to the DC office’s record, there are 300 social organisations. They should have participated in this programme. But they are not interested to come as they are not going to get money in this programme.”

CEM also said SEBA has granted teaching of Karbi language up to Class-XII.

As per the national new education policy, there is an emphasis that the medium of instruction at the lower level should be the mother tongue. There is an effort by the KAAC to have the Karbi language as a subject up to Class-X, by appointing Karbi Language Teachers (KLT) in all Karbi dominated areas in Northeast India.

He also said at the starting the salary of KLT was just Rs. 2,500. It was increased to Rs. 6,000 and now it is Rs. 15,000. Discussion is on with the Education minister, Ranoj Pegu for post creation of KLT so that they get the same salary as the state government employees.

Clarifying to the query from media persons on the indefinite protest by Podmo Teron and his colleagues in front of KAAC gate demanding cancellation of alleged illegal appointment in the office of Joint Director of Health Services, Karbi Anglong, the CEM said sitting in front of Council gate is not the solution. A written complaint should be submitted, then only KAAC will constitute an enquiry committee to investigate the matter.

Padmashree awardees Rongbong Terang and Dhaneswar Engti, MP Horensing Bey; deputy chairman, KAAC, Ritesh Enghi; MLAs Bidyasing Engleng, Dorsing Ronghang; executive members of KAAC and chairman, KLDB, KAAC, Longsing Teron were also present on the occasion.
