DALGAON, Oct 3: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Bechimari Anchalik Jatiya Vidyalaya organised a reenactment of the historic Dandi March, capturing the attention of common people in the region. Following the homage paid to Mahatma Gandhi, a group of artists, including school students, reenacted the historic Dandi March, starting from the school and proceeding along NH 15.

The March passed through the market area and visited various schools, government, and non-government institutions. The reenactment aimed to remind people of the Dandi March, during which Mahatma Gandhi began his journey from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi, a coastal town in Gujarat. It was during this march that Gandhi inaugurated the Civil Disobedience Movement by symbolically picking up a handful of salt in Dandi.

The artist portraying Mahatma Gandhi in the reenactment explained the historical significance of the Dandi March and highlighted the crucial role played by Mahatma Gandhi and his companions in India’s struggle for freedom. The reenactment also served as a reminder of the injustices and oppression faced by Indians under the British colonial government.
