NAGAON, Dec 20:Â In a significant move, the Nagaon district administration conducted a comprehensive drive against tobacco products such as gutkha, cigarettes, etc., within a 100-meter radius of various educational institutions in the small town. The drive resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of gutkha, cigarettes, and other tobacco products from outlets situated within the specified radius of different educational institutions.
Initiated under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the drive was led by Shilpi Rekha Pandit, assistant commissioner, Nagaon. The operation focused on areas within a 100-meter radius of historic Nowgong College (Autonomous), Nagaon Govt Boys’ HS School, and Nagaon Girls’ HS School.
The proactive initiative aligns with the broader national campaign, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aiming to create addiction-free India. By targeting the vicinity of educational institutions, the drive seeks to discourage the use of tobacco products among students and promote a healthier environment. The seized tobacco products underscore the success of the campaign in curbing the availability and consumption of such harmful substances in close proximity to educational institutions.
