JAGIROAD, Jan 12: In a much-anticipated event, the historic Jonbeel Mela, renowned for its unique barter system, is scheduled to captivate Jagiroad from January 18, extending over three days at Jonbeel Pathar in the Morigaon district. A preparatory meeting held on Friday at Jonbeel Pathar saw the active participation of district commissioner Devashish Sharma and superintendent of police Hemant Kumar Das.
During the meeting, district commissioner Sharma extended the assurance that the district administration is committed to providing comprehensive support to ensure the seamless execution of the Jonbeel Mela. Superintendent of police Hemant Kumar Das directed the fire brigade to establish a camp throughout the duration of the fair to address any emergencies that may arise.
Key directives were issued by the district commissioner, urging concerned departments to collaborate with the organisers. This includes facilitating the supply of clean drinking water, setting up medical centers, and ensuring sanitation facilities. The meeting brought together department heads and office bearers of the Jonbeel Mela Committee.
