1000 kilograms of lablab beans exported to London

DEMOW, Jan 17: In the first month of January 2024, positive news emerged from the farmers in Nitaipukhuri near Demow in Sivasagar district under the Thowra Constituency. For the second time, 1000 kilograms of lablab beans produced by the farmers of Dihingparia FPC in Nitaipukhuri of Sivasagar district were exported to London on the first day of Magh.

Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Atul Bora shared the news on Tuesday night through his social media on X, stating, “Good news for Assam’s agriculture sector on the first day of Magh!

1,000 kg of Lablab Beans (Urohi) produced by the farmers of Dihingparia FPC in Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar district was exported to London. This is the second consignment exported by the FPC as 500 kg of Urohi was exported recently.

My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the officials of Horticulture Department of Govt of Assam, concerned officials of Sivasagar District Agriculture Department, APART and every farmer involved in the production of Urohi.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Wednesday, expressed his satisfaction through his social media on X, stating, “Glad to learn about the export of 1,000 kg of Lablab Beans, locally known as Urohi to London.

The demand of Assam’s agri products in the international market speaks volumes about the hard work put by our farmers and our Govt’s commitment to overhaul our agriculture sector.”
