DIBRUGARH, Jan 18: On Wednesday evening, Dibrugarh Police apprehended a woman, Neha Das, in the Amlopatty area of Dibrugarh, with 47 grams of suspected brown sugar. Acting on confidential information, the police conducted a targeted operation and successfully arrested the alleged drug smuggler at her residence in the Amlopatty Rose Goli area.
The woman’s husband, identified as Wasim, is reportedly involved in drug smuggling, and a case has been registered against him at the Dibrugarh Police Station. The seized substance, suspected to be brown sugar, has been sent for laboratory testing to confirm its composition.
A police official stated, “We have taken the woman into custody, and 47 grams of suspected brown sugar were recovered from her residence. The drug sample has been sent for laboratory testing, and a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against her.”
This arrest is part of Dibrugarh police’s broader initiative to combat drug-related activities in the district. Numerous drug peddlers have been apprehended from various areas in the ongoing crackdown against illicit drug trade.
