SIVASAGAR, Jan 18: Prerona Saikia Sonowal, securing the 79th rank in CC APSC 2023, has achieved a significant milestone by being appointed as a junior officer in Assam Urban Administrative Services. Hailing from Sivasagar Red Cross Road, Prerona’s success story serves as a beacon of inspiration, proving that economic barriers cannot deter those with big dreams and strong willpower.
Prerona shared with the media that her mother, Purnima Saikia, faced adversity after losing her husband when Prerona was in class 9. Undeterred, Purnima became a vendor of court stamps at Sivasagar Court and acquired a photostat machine to support her family. Purnima, an alumnus in Sociology from JNU, New Delhi, holds a master’s degree in Labour Studies and is currently pursuing her PhD in Sociology at JNU.
