Assam: Businessman Attack at Salakati in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Once again sensation prevailed along the greater Salakati area after a businessman was attacked and left two serious injuries within a week in Kokrajhar district by unknown armed miscreants which has been creating a sensation among the citizens in the region.

The incident took place at Salakati Bazar under Kokrajhar police station at around 8.15 pm on Friday evening. The owner of the shop, identified as Bikash Jain (35) and his karmachari Krishna Barman also received serious injuries in the incident.

According to the source, a group of six members’ miscreants with arms entered the shop of Bikash Jain at Salakati Bazar on Friday evening around 8.15 pm and demanded ransom in the name of KLO (Kamatapur Liberation Organisation) militant.

The owner of the shop Jain waa reportedly refused to give demanded ransom and subsequently started to physical assault by the butt of a pistol leaving him with serious injuries.

The unknown miscreants have reportedly looted all cash money from the cash drawer of the shop besides vandalising a TV in the shop.

The miscreants came on bikes wearing helmets and mouth masks to hide their identification.

Notably, Sunil Mandal, a businessman of Narabari under the Serfanguri police station was shot on 4th June last by armed KLO militant organisation members and six persons have so far been arrested including a female model.

Police rushed to the spot and started their investigation into the incident.

Police took stock of the incident and expressed it’s hopeful that the involved culprits would be booked immediately.

” Police administration has intensified strict steps against the incidents that have been reported from various places and taking strong security vigil across the entire district”, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member Pramod Boro condemned the incident and asked the police administration to take strict steps against the incident.
