HOJAI, Aug 18: “Marwari Yuva Manch is not an organisation, it’s a family that believes in harmony, peace, and brotherhood,” said Pankaj Jalan, provincial president of Purvottar Pradeshiya Marwari Yuva Manch, while addressing an august gathering in Hojai on Thursday.

He noted that the organisation now has 106 branches in the north-east with 8,000 registered members. Jalan emphasised that the motto of PPMYM and its branches is social service for everyone, which includes regular blood donation camps, the installation of drinking water purifiers at public places, mega plantation drives, ambulance services, food distribution, open state-level competitions for youths, free health check-up camps, flood relief distribution, and many other welfare initiatives. “The objective is clear: the overall welfare of people, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or community,” he added.

He further stated, “We believe in humanity.” He also apprised the gathering of the organisation’s future plans and urged youths to join hands in its noble mission.

Notably, in a resplendent display of national pride, Marwari Yuva Manch, Hojai, came alive on the 78th Independence Day as Pankaj Jalan, provincial president of Purvottar Pradeshiya Marwari Yuva Manch, hoisted the national flag at Roop Kunwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla Smriti Bhawan on Ganga Prasad Kedia Road in Hojai. It was the first time any provincial president of PPMYM hoisted the national flag in Hojai. On the sidelines of the event, while speaking to our correspondent, Jalan said, “It is my pleasure to attend such an auspicious event at a branch that was established in 1983.” He lauded the efforts of the branch for its regular social services.

On this occasion, Vivek Todi, executive member, PPMYM; Ramesh Mundra, general secretary, Marwari Panchayati; Ashish Agarwal, president; and Abhi More, secretary of the Hojai branch shared the dais. They all spoke and shared their thoughts on MYM’s present and future prospects. The program was anchored by Nikhil Kumar Mundra. At the very outset, a lamp was lit, and the state song ‘O Mur Apunar Desh’ was reverberated by everyone, followed by the felicitation of the guests with Assamese phulam gamosa, japi, and mementos.

During the program, community youths who excelled in matriculation, higher secondary, and graduation were felicitated along with their parents. MYM, Hojai, also extended a special award to Manoj Sarma and a presidential award to two youths, Ashish Sharma and Nikhil Kumar Mundra, for their enormous contributions to social service over the past decade.
