Foundation laid for training center and CLF in Dhansiri

DIPHU, Aug 24: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang laid foundation stone for construction of a Community Training Centre (CTC) for Dhansiri Cluster Level Federation (CLF) in Dhansiri. The CTC will be constructed through the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) scheme facilitated by the District Administration.

Dhansiri CLF was constituted with the collective efforts of 3,169 women.

 It now has members from 306 women SHGs. The SHGs under Dhansiri CLF are engaged in various activities like production of traditional garments on handloom weaving, piggery, goat farming, poultry, fishery, agriculture and horticulture activities and many more. Through this federation the SHGs have generated income. Because of their capacity building and activities, the federation has earned a reputation not only in Karbi Anglong, but all over the state as well. The federation has received the Best Cluster Level Federation in the state and is recognised as one of the ideal CLF, where trainees from outside come to learn from them.

Speaking on the occasion the CEM said, “Dhansiri CLF is No. 1 CLF in Assam. 3,169 women have come together to constitute the Dhansiri CLF. Here the members are engaged in various activities for sustainable development that has helped to support its members and families. Under Dhansiri CLF it has 306 SHGs and the members have increased to 3,159.”

Ronghang also said the CLF office was constructed by members themselves, and the boundary wall will be constructed by KAAC next year. Through the CEM Special package 100 piglets and goats and 1000 ducklings and poultry will be given to Dhansiri CLF. The KAAC will provide necessary support and assistance for Dhansiri CLF.

Later, the CEM also visited ‘Mission Concern’ an orphanage home in Dhansiri, run by a lady Ambika Pradhan Thapa and her team. The orphanage is concerned with two activities i.e. adoption of abandoned children and raising them.  

The CEM in his visit met the president of Mission Concern Orphanage Home, Thapa and her children. Ronghang also interacted with the children and distributed blankets, mosquito nets and books to them.

The CEM was accompanied by MP Amarsing Tisso; Executive Members (EMs) of KAAC, MACs; MLAs Bidya Sing Engleng and Darsing Ronghang and District Commissioner, Nirola Phangchopi.
