MORIGAON, Sept 15: The All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU), Morigaon District Bodo Students’ Union (MDBSU), Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad (TYCP), All Tiwa Protection Committee (ATPC), and Morigaon District Karbi Students’ Union (MDKSU) welcomed chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s move to evacuate lands under tribal belts and blocks that are illegally occupied by encroachers. These encroachers have been living permanently on tribal lands.
The ATSU president, Cheniram Maleng, MDBSU president, Joy Ch Bodo, TYCP president, Krishna Konwar, ATPC general secretary, Chinaram Bordoloi, and MDKSU’s Pradeep Bey, have warmly welcomed the chief minister for evicting encroachers from Kasutoli, Dimaria, and Sunapur.
The tribal organisations also appealed to the chief minister to conduct further eviction drives against encroachers illegally living in 16 other blocks located in Nagaon, Hojai, and Morigaon districts. Moreover, they requested the chief minister to remove suspected nationals and illegal encroachers from lands under PGR, VGR, Proposed Reserve Forest (PRF) Afforestation, Deforestation, and NC under belts and blocks immediately.
The organisations also urged the MLA of the Morigaon constituency to take appropriate action against illegal encroachments.
