DIPHU, Sept 20: In a significant development, the Members of Anglong Autonomous Council (MACs), Avijit Kro and Phenpiga H Rengma, met with Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma in Shillong on behalf of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang was supposed to meet with Meghalaya CM, but due to unavoidable circumstances, he was unable to attend the meet with the Meghalayan chief minister.
The two MACs Avijit Kro and Phenpiga H Rengma went in as delegates from KAAC.
The meeting was held to discuss the border development issues and promote peace in the region, aiming to ensure harmony among communities living in the border areas.
MAC Avijit Kro informed that development projects will be initiated in the border regions to benefit residents of both sides. The meeting was fruitful.
Development of the border area of West Karbi Anglong (Assam) and Meghalaya was discussed. To ensure peace and tranquillity in the border area, any development work undertaken by the Meghalaya government within Karbi Anglong will require prior permission from the KAAC authority.
