Margherita police nab drug peddlers, seize narcotics

MARGHERITA, Nov 25: Margherita police on Monday afternoon nabbed two notorious drug peddlers along with drugs at Namdang Golai Gaon, Bargolai, under Margherita co-district.

The police conducted the operation based on secret information.

Margherita police apprehended two individuals along with drugs from their house located at Namdang Golai Gaon, Bargolai, and seized 15.15 grams of banned drugs from their possession.

Police also seized a scooty, two mobile phones, and Rs 3,000 in cash from the possession of the apprehended drug peddlers.

The arrested persons have been identified as Binod Thapa and Ravi Chetry, both permanent residents of Namdang Golai Gaon, Bargolai, under Margherita co-district.

The operation was led by Dinesh Pratap Singh Rathod (IPS), Margherita co-district police commissioner, and Protap Gogoi, Margherita Police Station officer-in-charge.

Both the drug peddlers have been brought to Margherita Police Station. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and at the time of filing this report, further investigation is ongoing.

Dinesh Pratap Singh Rathod, Margherita co-district police commissioner, said that based on reliable information, the two drug peddlers were apprehended along with drugs from their house located at Namdang Golai Gaon, Bargolai. He added that Margherita police are committed to creating a drug-free society in the Margherita co-district.
