GOSSAIGAON, Dec 7: During a routine naka checking at Srirampur, Simultapu police led by Ritwik Kashyap seized a large quantity of Arunachali liquor.
The liquor was seized on the evening of Friday from Assam-Bengal interstate border Srirampur in Kokrajhar district.
The police confiscated 1,080 cartons of McDowell’s foreign liquor from a truck bearing the registration number NL-01-N-8730. The truck was carrying the liquor hidden underneath empty jute sacks and was en route from Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh to Delhi.
Along with the truck, the driver Manoj Kumar (38), and handyman Arjun (26) were also detained. Both are residents of Panipat, Haryana, according to the information disclosed by Ritwik Kashyap, in charge of the Simultapu police outpost
As per police sources, the market value of the seized liquor is estimated to be approximately ₹18 lakh. This significant seizure of illegal liquor has caused a widespread sensation in the region.
