Police Crackdown Against IMFL

BOKAJAN, March 31: Acting on a secret information, police on Friday intercepted one potato loaded truck bearing registration no NL 01 K 4515 at Dillai naka checking point. The truck was heading towards Dimapur. On being searched police recovered a total of 500 cartons of IMFL (sale for Assam only) under potato bags.

The seized IMFL include; MC No 1 Rum -180ml X 48 X 280 cartons i.e., 13440 bottles and 750ml X 12X 100 cartoons i.e., 1200 bottles. AC black whiskey 750 ml X 12X 35 cartons i.e., 420 bottles; AC black whiskey 180ml X 48X 65 cartons i.e., 3,120 bottles and MAGIC MOVEMENT 750ml X 12 X 20 cartons i.e., 240 bottles.

The driver Agur Ali (20) has been apprehended. He is the son of Md. Shukur Ali of Bogcharagaon under Sarthebari police station, district Barpeta. Assam.

Yet in another incident, acting on specific information the officer in charge of Borpathar police station, Dipen Baruah along with staff conducted a special naka at Khakrajan under Barpthar police station, police intercepted a truck bearing registration no NL 01 AE 0787 loaded with sugar bags at around 8 am on Friday. On thorough search Arunachal IMFL was recovered which were hidden under sugar bags.

The seized consignments were MCDowell’s No 1(full) i.e., 150 cartons; MCDowell’s No 1(half) i.e., 145 cartons and MCDowell’s No 1 (qtr) 75 cartons.

Total recovered was 370 cartons whose market value is estimated to be 10 lakhs, police sources said. In this connection, the driver of the truck namely Munna Kumar Yadav, son of Jawahar Yadav of Siswabasant under Kalyanpur police station, district Motihari, Bihar was arrested. The consignment was loaded at Guwahati, Nalapara   and was to be shipped to Dimapur.
