GUWAHATI, Dec 8: The 3rd South East Asia Cultural Conference under the aegis of Northeast Asirbad Foundation was held in Guwahati recently aiming to connect with the South East Asian countries through culture, tourism, mutual trust, brotherhood and tradition.
Politicians, cultural icons, educationists along with cultural troops from 5 countries and artists from Assam took part in the conference that was held at Shilpagram.

The Cultural team from Mahasarkham University in Thailand, the team representing Assam, Tai cultural troop from Cotton University, team from Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand and Nepal enthralled the audience towards the evening. Alongside Bharatnatyam’s rendition from a team led by Anu Basumatary, Sangita Kakaty’s vocals and Gayatri Konwar’s cultural troupe showcased South East Asia’s rich cultural richness. The cultural evening was directed by artist Jina Rajkumari.
The programme was inaugurated by Padmashree Jatin Goswami and dramatist Dulal Roy. Former Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Nitul Gogoi and cultural affairs director Rahul Das were also present on the occasion.
Distinguished personalities like Nilima Khatun, Aparna Bujarbaruah, Samar Hazarika, Jiten Basumatary, Surjya Das, and Dwipen Baruah were felicitated in memory of late singer Pankaj Kalita.
Journalists Anupama Deka, Devajit Nandan, Ranjita Rabha and Snigdha Bora were also felicitated on the occasion.
