DIPHU, Dec 13: In a bid to promote coffee plantation in Karbi Anglong, the deputy director (Extension) Coffee Board, Jorhat and deputy director, Regional Coffee Research Station (RCRS) visited Diphu and Hamren.
During the visit, the officials visited several sites to extract details about the land of the new coffee so that they can inspect the land if it is suitable for growing coffee or not.
The officials from Jorhat Coffee Board deputy director (Extension) T Shivaram, Extension inspector AR Gupta, extension officer DK Bora and deputy director of Regional Coffee Research Station Dr Atiqur Rahman Bora took a journey from Diphu to Hamren on December 9 to meet with new coffee growers and inspect the land.
At Hamren, the team inspected the land of Rosewell Teron in Amlong Apam, Kramsa village and found it suitable for growing coffee. The team also met two interested coffee growers Jimmy Ronghang and Abraham Teron and informed them about the potential of coffee.
The team also conducted an awareness programme in Jaluk-Langteng village where enthusiast coffee growers took part in the event and showed their interest in coffee plantations.
The official also informed that a total of 31 enthusiast coffee growers have purchased seed for nursery for plantation on 77 hectares of land in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
