HAFLONG, Dec 23: The District Administration of Dima Hasao organised a workshop on Monday as part of the ongoing ‘Good Governance Week’ in Haflong.
The workshop was presided over by the District Commissioner (DC), Simanta Kr. Das. The event was further enriched by the presence of former MLA and retired Civil Servant, Bir Bhadra Hagjer, who shared valuable insights on effective governance.
This workshop is a key component of the nationwide initiative, “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore 2024” (Administration Towards the Village), which is divided into two phases: the preparatory phase and the implementation phase.
The week-long campaign focuses on conducting public grievance redressal camps across the district, ensuring that citizens have direct access to address their concerns.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr Hagjer emphasised the critical principles of fairness, neutrality, and transparency in administration, urging officials to fulfill their responsibilities with diligence and integrity.
On the other hand, the district commissioner highlighted the importance of adopting corporate-like efficiency in public service delivery and encouraged departmental heads to implement transformative initiatives aimed at elevating the district’s status from inspirational to inspirational.
Representatives from key departments, including Health, Social Welfare, Public Health Engineering (PHE), and Agriculture, shared their experiences and best practices in advancing good governance.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, launched the fourth edition of Sushasan Saptah (Good Governance Week), observed from December 19 to 24, 2024.
This year’s theme, “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, underscores the government’s commitment to fostering effective governance in rural areas.
ADC Sangeeta Devi, serving as the nodal officer for the campaign, played an instrumental role in ensuring its smooth execution. She emphasized the significance of documenting and sharing effective governance practices through the Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore portal, as directed by the government.
In her concluding remarks, Devi expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and participants for their active involvement in making the campaign a success.
The workshop was attended by several notable officials, including Deputy Secretary of NCHAC, Ms. Rebecca Changsan, ADC James Aind, and other distinguished representatives from various departments.
Meanwhile, along with the rest of the country, the said Good Governance Week was also celebrated in Morigaon district. In keeping with the celebration of Good Governance Day, a workshop was held at the Morigaon District Commissioner’s (DC) Office on Monday.
The workshop was attended by retired administrative officer Harish Chandra Dutta and the current secretary to the government of Assam, Kabyashree Mahanta, as the chief guests.
