Four notorious cattle thieves arrested at Rupahihat

NAGAON, Feb 10: In a significant breakthrough, Kaliabor sub-district police arrested four notorious cattle thieves within the last 24 hours from the Rupahihat police station area.

The arrests were made possible due to a tip-off from a reliable source amidst the alleged inactivity of the Rupahihat police administration.

A special police team led by SDPO, Kaliabor Shyamanta Sarma, a joint operation was conducted by Jakhalabandha police and Bagori police, resulting in the apprehension of three notorious cattle thieves on Saturday night here.

According to sources, the arrested thieves have been identified as Nekibur Rahman and Mainul Haque from Gunamari and Rinku Ahmed from Saidoria area under Rupahihat police station here.

This is the second major breakthrough for Jakhalabandha police in recent days.

Meanwhile, another cattle thief identified as Babul Hussain, hailing from Pub Gehua Chalchali under the same Rupahihat police station, was also arrested last night by Kaliabor police on Sunday.

Police immediately seized five cattle heads, stolen from some households located at nearby areas from his possession too.

Sources from police stated that they would continue to interrogate the arrested thieves and launch a sustained campaign against cattle thieves in the areas soon.
