NAMSAI, June 15: In a step towards enhancing rural healthcare access –– ‘The Hills Times’ –– a leading media house, organised a free health camp at Poi Pee Mau Ground in Namsai on Sunday.
The initiative, aimed at uplifting rural healthcare in the region and serving the underprivileged and remote communities across Namsai, Changlang, and Lohit districts, was carried out with the support of multiple stakeholders and received an overwhelming public response.
According to an official statement, the health camp was organised to ensure equitable access to basic medical services, especially for those living in geographically challenging and underserved areas.
Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, C R Khampa, who attended the event as the chief guest, lauded ‘The Hills Times’ for its initiative in uplifting community welfare through healthcare outreach.
Commandant of the 186th Battalion of the CRPF, Dharmendra Kumar Singh, was also present and extended full logistical and operational support to the organisers.
The 186th Battalion of CRPF, Namsai, played a crucial role in facilitating the camp’s success by providing transportation for patients from remote villages, ambulance services staffed with trained medical personnel, and a water tanker to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply throughout the event.
A medical team from Swastha Hospital, Dibrugarh, comprising reputed and experienced doctors, delivered comprehensive healthcare services during the camp.
The team conducted free consultations, offered personalised medical advice, and attended to a wide range of health concerns, including maternal and child care, geriatric support, and general health check-ups.
The camp recorded strong turnout from economically weaker sections, tribal communities, and other marginalised groups.
In addition to addressing immediate medical needs, the initiative also helped spread awareness on preventive healthcare and hygiene practices.
The Hills Times reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility through such initiatives, with a vision to bridge the gap between healthcare facilities and rural populations.
The collaboration with CRPF Namsai, Swastha Hospital, and local communities made the event a notable example of public service with lasting community impact.
