PASIGHAT, July 7: In a significant outreach effort aimed at improving healthcare access in remote areas, Siang Trust, a local non-governmental organisation, organised a free medical camp at Jomo village in Siang district on Sunday.
The initiative brought together a team of experienced medical professionals and support staff to provide essential health services to the residents of the village.
According to an official statement issued by Siang Trust, a total of 115 patients, including a large number of senior citizens, were examined during the camp.
The health camp offered a range of services including free blood pressure and blood sugar tests, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) tests, and distribution of free medicines.
The medical team comprised Diabetologist Dr Lincode Moyong, Surgical Specialist Dr Gumi Padu, Dental Surgeon Dr Bobang Ratan, Retired Additional Director of Health Services (Government of Arunachal Pradesh) Dr Saibal Bhattacharjee, and SMO Dr Lung Perme Pao.
The camp was also supported by medical staff, volunteers, and members of Siang Trust, led by the NGO’s President, Group Captain Mohonto Panging Pao VM (Retd.).
Local community leaders, including gaon burahs (GBs), the village secretary, and village elders, also extended their support in facilitating the smooth conduct of the camp.
The organisers said that the health camp was part of a broader initiative to provide healthcare services in hard-to-reach areas where access to regular medical facilities is limited.
“The camp was a success and drew a positive response from the community. Similar medical camps are being planned for other remote villages in the district,” the statement from Siang Trust added.
The NGO reiterated its commitment to community welfare through continued collaboration with healthcare professionals and local administration to address pressing medical needs in rural and underserved areas.
