GUWAHATI, July 8: To accommodate the increased rush of passengers during the upcoming Shravani Mela, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the operation of three pairs of special trains on select routes.
The move aims to ensure smooth travel and better connectivity for devotees and other passengers during the religious festival period.
According to an official statement issued by NFR, the special trains will operate between Dibrugarh–Deoghar, Katihar–Deoghar, and Katihar–Manihari.
These services will run on specific days and dates to cater to the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
Train no 05926 (Dibrugarh–Deoghar) special will depart from Dibrugarh at 09:40 hrs from July 10 to August 9, 2025.
It will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
In the return direction, train no. 05925 (Deoghar–Dibrugarh) special will depart Deoghar at 21:55 hrs from July 11 to August 10, 2025, operating on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and reach Dibrugarh at 08:30 hrs on the third day.
A total of 23 trips will be made in each direction.
Train no 05716 (Katihar–Deoghar) special will leave Katihar at 14:20 hrs every Thursday from July 10 to August 7, 2025, and arrive in Deoghar at 04:15 hrs the next day.
Its return service, train no. 05715 (Deoghar–Katihar) special, will depart Deoghar at 05:45 hrs every Friday from July 11 to August 8, 2025, reaching Katihar at 21:20 hrs on the same day.
This pair of trains will operate for five round trips.
To support short-distance pilgrims and commuters, NFR will run daily special trains between Katihar and Manihari. Train no 07540 (Katihar–Manihari) special will leave Katihar at 20:30 hrs from July 1 to July 31, 2025, reaching Manihari at 21:30 hrs on the same day.
Train no 07539 (Manihari–Katihar) special will depart from Manihari at 05:00 hrs daily from July 2 to August 1, 2025, and arrive in Katihar at 06:00 hrs the same day.
These trains will complete 31 trips each.
The NFR has advised passengers to verify the detailed schedule, including stoppages and timings, available on the IRCTC website and the official social media handles of the N F Railway before planning their journeys.
The special arrangements reflect the railway’s commitment to providing seamless travel experiences for devotees heading to Deoghar and nearby regions for Shravani Mela, one of the most significant religious gatherings in eastern India.
