KOKRAJHAR, July 10: NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati, under its flagship Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025, recently conducted a comprehensive awareness session on child mental health aimed at fostering emotional well-being and promoting positive mental health among young participants.
The interactive session focused on key aspects such as understanding emotional intelligence, where students were guided on the importance of recognising and managing emotions.
Experts introduced effective coping mechanisms to help participants deal with stress and anxiety, equipping them with practical tools to navigate everyday challenges.
The session was conducted by Udangshri Basumatary, clinical psychologist at KMCH, Kokrajhar, in association with the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club and the Medical Cell of the power station.
Kasturi Maitra, President of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, along with other club members, was present on the occasion to encourage and support the students.
Emphasis was laid on the significance of positive self-talk and affirmations to help the children build self-esteem and confidence.
The role of strong support systems—comprising family, peers, and educators—was also highlighted as crucial to fostering emotional growth and resilience.
To further engage the students, various team exercises were conducted during the session, aimed at building confidence and encouraging collaborative learning.
Through initiatives like this, NTPC Bongaigaon reaffirms its commitment to the holistic development of GEM students, empowering them to face the future with confidence and optimism.
