MANGALDAI, July 26: The Darrang District Committee of ‘Karunadhara’ distributed ₹94,000 in financial aid to critically ill patients during a meeting held at the Mangaldai Sanatan Dharma Sabha hall recently. The meeting was chaired by Committee President Mukul Chandra Deka and witnessed the presence of several dignitaries and around 100 members.
Legislator Basant Das, responding to an appeal for land, pledged to arrange a plot for the organisation in recognition of its service to the underprivileged.
District Commissioner Parag Kumar Kakaty lauded ‘Karunadhara’s work and assured early action in the land allocation process.
Mangaldai Municipal Chairperson Nirmali Devi Sharma, BJP state women’s wing president Nilima Devi, and other dignitaries also graced the occasion.
Senior journalist Bhargab Kumar Das described ‘Karunadhara’ as a movement of compassion beyond organisational boundaries.
The event, anchored by Secretary Ganesh Dutta, featured remarks by Chief Advisor Dr. Amarendra Narayan Dev and Executive President Shekhar Mazumdar.
A cheque of ₹4,000 was also handed over to Manas Deka of Deomornoi on behalf of ‘Ashar Alok – Manuhey Manuhar Babey’.
