ITANAGAR, July 31: In a significant development for the renewable energy sector in Arunachal Pradesh, the Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) and former Minister, Taba Tedir, met with Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, in New Delhi to deliberate on the way forward for clean energy expansion in the state.
The meeting, held earlier this week, was part of a broader effort to build stronger Centre-State collaboration in promoting sustainable energy initiatives.
According to an official statement issued by APEDA, the delegation led by Tedir included Director Er Marbom Bam and Project Officer Tadam Jeram.
The team engaged in detailed discussions with the Union Minister on accelerating the implementation of renewable energy projects in Arunachal Pradesh.
The talks revolved around developing a strategic roadmap that aligns with the vision of a “Green Arunachal,” a concept that seeks to position the state as a frontrunner in ecological preservation and sustainable development.
“We had a meaningful interaction with Shripad Naik ji, focusing on ways to promote clean energy initiatives that reflect Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to sustainability,” said Chairman Tedir in the statement.
He emphasised the state’s vast untapped potential in renewable sectors such as hydropower, solar, and other clean energy sources, and called for intensified support from the Central government to help unlock these resources.
The Union Minister assured the visiting delegation of the Centre’s full cooperation in strengthening the renewable energy landscape of Arunachal Pradesh.
He expressed keen interest in supporting projects that will contribute to the national renewable energy mission while also enhancing the state’s own energy security and rural electrification goals.
In addition to meeting the Minister, the APEDA team held discussions with several senior officials of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), including Secretary Santosh Sarangi, and Joint Secretaries SVJ Subramanyam and Rajesh Khuleri.
These interactions, according to the statement, were described as “insightful and encouraging,” with officials agreeing on the importance of adopting a grassroots-driven, locally adaptable model to boost renewable energy implementation.
Tedir noted that the state government is committed to working closely with MNRE to explore potential joint ventures and technical partnerships that can result in more efficient, widespread deployment of renewable energy technologies, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
“Our discussions laid the groundwork for collaborative efforts that can make Arunachal Pradesh a model state in clean energy development,” Tedir stated, “We look forward to sustained cooperation from the Ministry to build a greener, energy-secure future for the region.”
The visit is expected to pave the way for increased funding, technical support, and policy guidance for Arunachal Pradesh’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
