He was addressing the inaugural function of the 1st edition of the Late Techi Vijay Tara Memorial Volleyball Tournament-2025, held at the general ground in Ganga village on Thursday.

In an official statement released after the event, Kaso emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle through regular physical activity.

“When wealth and property are lost, something is lost. But when health is lost, everything is lost,” he said while encouraging young people to prioritise health and stay away from bad habits.

He added that timely engagement in games and sports would not only improve individual fitness but also reduce the need for costly medical treatment.

The senior legislator underlined the role of sports in shaping character and discipline.

“Avoid bad company and do not fall into wrong habits. Maintain your daily duties and education while staying fit. Be a fine gentleman and contribute to society like I have done for decades,” he said, while interacting with the players and public in attendance.

Kaso also urged parents to guide their children in the right direction, stating that responsible youth today would guarantee a better future for all.

The event also witnessed the presence of guest of honour, Executive Engineer of PWD Itanagar Circle and Coordination Officer Nikum Tana Tara, who lauded the efforts of the United Leil Tara Youths Foundation (ULTYF) for organising the tournament.

The speakers highlighted the significance of sporting events in community building and youth engagement.

Itanagar ZPM Taro Tagia, former PRI leaders, other PRI representatives, social workers, public leaders, and a large gathering of local residents were also present at the inaugural ceremony, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.

According to the organisers, a total of 21 teams from various regions—including East Kameng, Pakkekessang, Papum Pare, Keyi Panyor, and Capital Complex—are participating in the tournament.

The teams will compete in a series of league matches as part of the event, which aims to promote sportsmanship and regional camaraderie.
