ITANAGAR, Sept 27: Capital Complex MLA and Advisor to the Urban Affairs Minister, Techi Kaso, on Saturday called upon parents to take greater responsibility in guiding their children’s future so that they grow up to become good human beings, serve society with dedication, and contribute meaningfully to the all-round development of the state and the nation.
Kaso was addressing the third felicitation programme of the Takam Welfare Society (TWS), organised at a city hotel in Itanagar. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need for parents to remain vigilant and supportive in their children’s academic and personal growth, warning that the younger generation today faces serious challenges, particularly due to indulgence in substance abuse and the influence of bad company.
“We are passing through a critical time where youths are being damaged due to drug abuse and unhealthy habits. Precious time once lost will never return. Therefore, it is high time that we care for our children’s future and guide them in their studies and constructive activities. Alongside education, children can also take advantage of government provisions in the field of games and sports through sports quotas, but for that, they must excel in their chosen discipline,” the MLA said.
Addressing the youths directly, Kaso advised them to respect elders, work hard in their studies, and pursue their interests in sports with sincerity.
He also urged them to prepare for competitive examinations and aspire to join the civil services, which would enable them to serve their community and society in leadership roles.
He further emphasised the importance of discipline in the family.
“When a son asks for a motorcycle, parents should give him books instead. When a daughter asks for a mobile phone, encourage her first to learn and gain knowledge, and use digital resources wisely instead of wasting time on unproductive activities,” he remarked.
Guest of honour and Deputy Commissioner of Itanagar Capital Complex, Toko Babu, also addressed the gathering.
He motivated the youths to become role models for their families, communities, and the larger society, so that their achievements could inspire others.
On the occasion, Takam Welfare Society President Takam Tatup, General Secretary Takam Dari Sojik, Education and Literary Secretary Takam Dado Larku, Organising Secretary (Education) Takam Dado Tayo, and Overall In-charge Takam Dado Namta also spoke, sharing their words of encouragement and guidance with the students and youths present.
The highlight of the programme was the felicitation of achievers from the Takam clan.
Certificates of achievement, trophies, and cash awards were presented to students and young talents who excelled in the fields of education, games and sports, and other areas of distinction. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the community and reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in nurturing the younger generation for a brighter and more progressive future.
