BOKAJAN, Aug 23: The Karbi Anglong police in a routine check at Khakrajan police check gate intercepted a car, AS 06 L 5352, at around 8 in the morning.
On thoroughly checking the car which was coming from Dimapur, Nagaland, heroine packed in 45 plastic cases were found inside the car which weighed 534.76 gms with a market value of Rs. 1.1 crore.
In this connection one Vetshekhro Tsuzuh, a resident of Phek, Dimapur district, Nagaland, PO Chinizimi Thetsumi has been arrested.
It may be mentioned that Dimapur has become the thoroughfare for drug smuggling of the Golden Triangle and the route went through Karbi Anglong.
Heroin, methamphetamine, morphine, SP capsule and poppy husks are smuggled and often caught by the police on the route.
Nobody is sure about the amount of drugs smuggled through Karbi Anglong that aspires to reach the NE premier city of Guwahati and from there to Bharat’s metros like Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangaluru.
The police catching the smugglers and seizing the contraband is no deterrent for the operators of the Golden Triangle to keep on the trade of smuggling drugs through NE India.
