GUWAHATI, Sept 7: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the introduction of new stoppages for three key express trains under the Katihar Division, aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, strengthening regional connectivity, and improving overall travel experience.
The decision, effective from 5th and 6th September 2025, reflects NFR’s commitment to addressing local aspirations and facilitating smoother travel across Bihar and West Bengal.

According to an official statement released by NFR, Train No. 13141/13142 (Sealdah – New Alipurduar – Sealdah) Teesta Torsa Express has been granted a new halt at Kanki Station, effective from 5th September 2025.
The inaugural stop was flagged off in the presence of Kartik Chandra Paul, Member of Parliament, along with senior railway officials and local dignitaries.
The ceremony marked the beginning of improved rail services for residents and travellers in the region.
Further enhancing accessibility, stoppages at Azamnagar Road Station have been provided for two additional trains from September 6, 2025.
These include Train No 13145/13146 (Kolkata – Radhikapur – Kolkata) Express and Train No 13053/13054 (Howrah – Radhikapur – Howrah) Kulik Express.
The inauguration event was attended by Tariq Anwar, Member of Parliament, and Member of Legislative Assembly Nisha Singh, alongside senior railway officials and community leaders.
The official statement underlined that these new stoppages are expected to serve a significant number of passengers from Bihar and West Bengal.
The move is seen as an effort to meet local demands for better connectivity and facilitate easier travel for daily commuters, business travellers, and long-distance passengers alike.
Speaking at the event, officials reiterated that the stoppages are part of NFR’s broader strategy to enhance transport infrastructure while ensuring passengers’ needs are addressed.
The addition of stops at Kanki and Azamnagar Road is expected to open new avenues for trade, education, and healthcare access for residents in these areas.
The initiative also aligns with the government’s focus on regional development and inclusive growth.
By extending rail services to smaller stations, the railway is helping bridge gaps in infrastructure and support the mobility needs of underserved populations.
