DIPHU, Sept 18: The 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was marked with a series of activities across Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts, blending service-oriented programmes, health initiatives, and symbolic celebrations.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with its youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), East Karbi Anglong District, organised multiple programmes as part of the nationwide Sewa Pakhwada observance that began on September 17 and will continue till October 2, coinciding with the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

The BJYM-EKAD organised a free blood donation camp at the Blood Bank of Diphu Medical College & Hospital on Wednesday in collaboration with the hospital’s Blood Centre, where over 25 members and karyakartas donated blood.
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Executive Member Madhuram Lekthe, who participated in the camp, said that BJP workers donate blood several times a year, not only on festive occasions.
BJYM-EKAD president Jiten Bey announced that similar health and blood donation camps would be held LAC-wise—on September 20 in Bokajan, September 23 in Howraghat at Phuloni Model Hospital, and September 24 in Diphu.
BJP-EKADC president Roland Killing praised the BJYM for its initiative, while Bey said the camp reflected the simplicity and kindness of Modi.
On the same day, BJP-EKADC organised a symbolic celebration at its office, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Diphu, where president Roland Killing, KAAC Chairman Raju Tisso, general secretary Sarsing Phangcho, and party workers lit earthen lamps in the evening, praying for the Prime Minister’s good health and continued leadership.
Meanwhile, in West Karbi Anglong, the District Administration and District Health Society launched Seva Hi Samarpan: Seva Saptah at Hamren Civil Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The programme, which will run till September 25, was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Pradip Kumar Gupta, who urged citizens and organisations to participate.
Simultaneously, the Swastha Nari Swastha Parial Abhiyan was launched, to continue till October 2.
District Programme Manager of NHM, Hilton Saikia, informed that the week-long initiative will involve multiple departments, highlighting healthcare, education, social welfare, and environmental protection.
He added that on September 22, food packets would be distributed to 161 tuberculosis patients across Dongkamokam, Borchok, and Baithalangso.
The inaugural programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner Himadri Sekhar Bordoloi, SDMO Dr Ranjit Kumar Nath, Nodal Officer of District AIDS Control Society Dr Montu Kumar Shyam, Superintendent of Hamren Civil Hospital Dr Altaf Hussain, M&HO-I Dr Mirdihun Teronpi, and officials from NHM and Hamren Civil Hospital.
