Guwahati, Nov 05:With the Indian Air Force Day Flypast set to take over the skies above the Brahmaputra on November 9, Guwahati is bracing for tight traffic control around Lachit Ghat and adjoining routes. The city’s traffic police have rolled out a detailed advisory to manage vehicular flow during both the main event and rehearsals on November 5, 6, and 8.

To prevent gridlock near the riverfront venue, movement will be restricted across key city corridors — including MG Road, H.B. Road, AT Road, DG Road, B Baruah Road, and GNB Road — from 7 AM to 5 PM on November 8 and 9. Heavy vehicles and slow-moving transport such as rickshaws, handcarts, and e-rickshaws will be barred from entering the area between Machkhowa Point and the Chief Justice’s Bungalow Point.

Only vehicles with valid passes issued by the Indian Air Force will be allowed to operate along the MG Road stretch between 11 AM and 5 PM. Those without authorisation will have to take alternate routes, as diversions are planned via H.B. Road, AT Road, and the Panbazar Railway Overbridge. Vehicles from Uzanbazar and Latasil will be routed through Lamb Road, F.C. Road, and GNB Road.

Parking will remain strictly regulated. Designated zones have been earmarked for vehicles carrying Red, Blue, and Yellow passes. Parking along MG Road, FA Road, BRP Road, MLN Road, ARB Road, HB Road, and TRP Road will not be allowed. Similarly, trucks and other heavy vehicles will not be permitted to halt on TRP Road, Lakhi Gali, Chamber Road, SRCB Road, SS Road, Kedar Road, or MS Road.
