MAC Johny Timung distributes poultry units to SHGs

DIPHU, Nov 8: Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Johny Timung participated in a poultry distribution programme organised by the Government Pig-cum-Poultry Farm, Diphu under the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Karbi Anglong at his official residence on Saturday.

Timung distributed poultry units to several Self Help Groups (SHGs) within his constituency, an initiative aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods, boosting household incomes and promoting self-reliance in Karbi Anglong.

Addressing the gathering, Timung highlighted the role of animal husbandry as a sustainable income source for rural families and said such initiatives support the government’s mission to build a self-reliant rural economy.

“This effort not only uplifts families but also encourages entrepreneurship in our villages. Together we are working toward a more sustainable and progressive society,” he said. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support extended by the department and Timung’s leadership.
