Tezpur, Nov 12:
National Health Mission (NHM) employees in Assam have paused their statewide protest for five days after Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma invited them for talks.
The decision was announced during a press meet in Tezpur, where the employees expressed hope that discussions with the Chief Minister would take place by November 18 to address their long-pending demands.
The protest was launched in support of five key demands, including pay protection through pay scale, equal pay for equal work, regular appointments to vacant posts in the health department, and implementation of social security benefits such as EPF.
The NHM workforce forms the backbone of Assam’s public healthcare delivery system, playing a key role in implementing various state and central health schemes.
