HAFLONG, Nov 18: Assam Rifles in Haflong organised a career counselling workshop on Monday, November 17, for students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, aiming to guide young learners towards opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces. The session brought students face-to-face with officers who explained the pathways to join the services, drawing strong interest from the attendees.
Students were introduced to major entry routes such as the National Defence Academy, Combined Defence Services and Technical Entry Schemes. Officers explained eligibility, examinations and selection stages in clear detail, giving students a practical understanding of how to prepare for each option.
Sharing experiences from their own service life, the officers highlighted discipline, leadership and commitment as essential values that shape life in uniform. Students were also encouraged to raise questions about academic requirements, physical standards and career growth, making the interaction more engaging and informative.
A presentation on Operation Sindoor offered a closer look at how the Armed Forces respond to real-time challenges and safeguard national security. The workshop wrapped up with students expressing renewed interest in serving the nation, as the programme succeeded in building awareness, confidence and a sense of purpose among the young audience.
