The accused, identified as Nazir Uddin Ali of No 2 Serfanguri village under Gossaigaon subdivision, has long been suspected by locals of distributing illegal drugs in the area. Acting on specific inputs from residents, the police conducted a raid during which they recovered four containers of narcotic substances and 7.27 grams of brown sugar from his possession.

Nazir Uddin Ali is currently undergoing intensive interrogation to help trace the wider drug supply network operating in the border region. Police officials expressed confidence that the arrest would deal a significant blow to local peddlers and disrupt the illegal drug trade.

The swift action has drawn appreciation from the local community, who hope it will restore peace and curb the spread of narcotics in Bhatipetla and surrounding areas.
