TEZPUR, Dec 9: Along with the rest of Assam, the Ceremonial Distribution of Sanction Letters under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) for Sonitpur district was held on Tuesday across all five Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) of the district. At the LAC-level events, live streaming of the central programme from Boko, Kamrup, graced by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, was arranged. The Chief Minister inaugurated the state-wide distribution of sanction letters for houses under PMAY-G, benefiting over 3.25 lakh families across Assam.
In Sonitpur district, the ceremonies were attended by Cabinet Minister and Dhekiajuli MLA Ashok Singhal, Barchalla MLA Ganesh Kumar Limbu, Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava, Rangapara MLA Krishna Kamal Tanti and Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika, along with president of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad Manisha Upadhyay in their respective LACs.
District officials and dignitaries also participated in the events. District Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das and CDC Barchalla Kamal Baruah joined the programme at Barchalla, CEO Zilla Parishad Jayanta Kumar Borah and CDC Naduar Manash Kumar Saikia attended in Naduar, District Development Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Sharma and ADC James Aind were present at Tezpur, CDC Dhekiajuli Dyotiva Bora took part in Dhekiajuli and CDC Rangapara Sanskriti Somani attended Rangapara. Other invited dignitaries, Block Development Officers and officials also graced the respective ceremonies.
Our Kokrajhar Correspondent adds: A total of 659 beneficiaries in the Kokrajhar Assembly Constituency received sanction letters for constructing houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme on Tuesday. The distribution ceremony was held at the Kokrajhar Block Office in the presence of several leaders and officials.
During the programme, Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary, MCLA Daneswar Goyary and former minister Pramila Rani Brahma jointly handed over the sanction letters to the beneficiaries. The leaders highlighted that the initiative aims to provide secure, permanent and dignified housing to economically weaker families living in rural areas.
MLA Lawrence Islary said the government is actively working to ensure that all eligible families receive housing support under PMAY-G. He added that the distribution of 659 sanction letters marks a significant step towards improving living conditions in the constituency.
Former minister Pramila Rani Brahma addressed the gathering, stating that the scheme would bring relief and stability to hundreds of households. She encouraged beneficiaries to complete the construction of their houses within the stipulated timeframe.
The event was attended by beneficiaries from different villages under the Kokrajhar Legislative Constituency, who expressed gratitude to the government for extending this vital support. Officials informed that construction work for the houses will begin soon, following PMAY-G guidelines.
The distribution programme reflects the government’s continued commitment to rural development, housing security and social welfare in the region.
Our Margherita Correspondent adds: A programme for the distribution of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) sanction letters was organised on Tuesday at PM Shri Town High School, Margherita, under the Margherita Development Block. The event was held in connection with the state-level programme at Boko, which was live telecast during the function.
At the state-level event, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma described the day as historic, stating that the dreams of more than 3,25,234 families in Assam to own a safe and dignified home are now closer to becoming reality. He said that the PMAY-G sanction letters symbolise security, dignity and the government’s commitment towards building a stronger Assam.
At Margherita, Co-District Commissioner Rahul Doley, while addressing the gathering, said that PMAY-G is not merely about constructing houses but about building respect, safety and stability for the underprivileged.
Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma highlighted the importance of the scheme and urged Gaon Panchayat presidents and secretaries to ensure timely and quality completion of the houses.
A total of 788 beneficiaries under the Margherita Development Block received their PMAY-G sanction letters and the instalments will be released directly to the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The programme was attended by Tinsukia Zilla Parishad Chairman Bhadeswar Moran, Margherita Anchalik Panchayat president Munmi Gogoi, Margherita Circle Officer Gyanjyoti Dutta, Margherita Co-District Assistant Commissioners Pritom Gogoi and Pronamika Konwar, Margherita Block Development Officer Rohit Kumar Yadav, along with other officials and beneficiaries.
