GUWAHATI, Dec 29: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) introduced several new train services during 2025 with the aim of enhancing rail connectivity, improving passenger convenience and strengthening regional as well as inter-state travel across the Northeast and adjoining areas.
As part of the expansion, Train No 12047/12048 Guwahati–North Lakhimpur–Guwahati Jan Shatabdi Express was introduced on a bi-weekly basis from January 7, 2025.
Train No 55817/55818 New Bongaigaon–Guwahati–New Bongaigaon Passenger began daily operations from January 4, while Train No 15911/15912 Tinsukia–Naharlagun–Tinsukia Express commenced tri-weekly services from January 5, significantly improving regional connectivity.
To strengthen long-distance travel, Train No 13115/13116 Sealdah–Jalpaiguri Road–Sealdah Weekly Express was introduced from June 20, 2025.
In the Darjeeling hill section, Train No. 52592 Darjeeling–Ghum–Darjeeling was launched from September 20, 2025, catering to tourism and heritage travel.
September 2025 saw the introduction of several key services. Train No. 20507/20508 Sairang–Anand Vihar Terminal–Sairang Rajdhani Express began weekly operations from September 19.
Train No 15609/15610 Guwahati–Sairang–Guwahati Express was introduced as a daily service from September 13, while Train No 13125/13126 Kolkata–Sairang–Kolkata Express started tri-weekly operations from September 16.
In addition, Train No. 26302/26301 Danapur–Jogbani–Danapur Vande Bharat Express was introduced with six-day-a-week services from September 17.
Train No 15702/15701 Siliguri–Katihar–Siliguri Express commenced daily operations from September 16, and Train No 16601/16602 Erode–Jogbani–Erode Amrit Bharat Express was introduced as a weekly service from September 25.
NFR officials said the introduction of these services during 2025 reflects the railway’s continued commitment to expanding rail connectivity, improving accessibility and supporting the socio-economic development of the Northeast region.
