Former MP Satyendra Nath Brahma Choudhury dies at 82

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 3: Former Member of Parliament from Kokrajhar, Satyendra Nath Brahma Choudhury, passed away at his Bongaigaon residence on Friday morning. He was 82. A respected advocate, he served as legal adviser to the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and Bodoland Peoples Action Committee (BPAC) during the Bodoland movement and represented the Kokrajhar constituency in the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996 as an Independent candidate backed by Bodoland groups.

The son of late Sitanath Brahma Choudhury, former president of the Assam Sahitya Sabha, he was widely admired for his dedication to the Bodo cause and public service. Leaders including ABSU president Dipen Boro, former Bodoland Territorial Region CEM Pramod Boro, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary and Kokrajhar MP Joyanta Basumatary expressed deep condolences.
