Foundation stone of Demow HS School building laid

DEMOW, Feb 3: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated 67 school buildings across Assam and laid the foundation stone of 61 new school buildings centrally from Sonapur Higher Secondary School in Kamrup (Metro) district, in the presence of Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu and other dignitaries, as part of the government’s initiative to upgrade educational infrastructure in the State.

As part of the same programme, the foundation stone of the new school building of Demow Higher Secondary School was laid under RIDF XXXI at the school campus on February 2. The ceremony was attended by Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Demow Constituency; Deva Jyoti Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar District; Bokul Dutta, Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School and other dignitaries.

On the occasion, Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Demow Constituency, also inaugurated the free bicycle distribution programme at Demow Higher Secondary School for students of Class IX. Free bicycles were distributed among the boys and girls students of Demow Higher Secondary School, Demow Girls High School and Sukanpukhuri High School.
