DIPHU, Feb 10: The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) held a protest dharna in front Rajiv Bhawan, Khorsing Terang Park on Tuesday in protest against the alleged corruption of the ruling dispensation led by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Dr Tuliram Ronghang.
The KADCC members sitting in the dharna held placards of ‘Dehotkoi Mami Dang-or Nohai’, the ‘Mami’ referring to the wife of the chief minister of Assam.
The president of KADCC, Ratan Engti said, “The chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family members have acquired property in the name of his wife, while evicting the poor and the underprivileged and bringing the land prices down. 12000 bighas of land is in the name of his wife. The BJP government, whether the chief minister or the CEM (of KAAC), are deep in corruption, seizing land and are involved in ‘syndicate’.”
Engti also said that the press meet of the Chief Minister in Delhi is a ‘flop’. He cannot do anything, that’s why he has handed the matter of Gaurav Gogoi (APCC president) to the Home Ministry.
He also alleged that the BJP has no policy regarding anything in the country while claiming a large following among the people. The CEM of KAAC Tuliram Ronghang has converted a government building ‘CEM Bungalow’ into a BJP office by holding ‘BJP Joining’ there. Those who joined the BJP are just taking the money from the CEM, the money is from various departments of KAAC which belong to the people.
The KADCC president Ratan Engti and vice president Bidya Sing Rongpi along with others participated in the protest.
