MORIGAON, Feb 15: A free anti-rabies vaccination campaign was organised by Tommy’s Care, Morigaon, with support from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Morigaon, on Saturday with the aim of making the district rabies-free.
Morigaon District Commissioner Anamika Tewari inaugurated the free anti-rabies vaccination camp at the premises of Morigaon Padum Pukhuri. Speaking on the occasion, the DC lauded the initiative of Tommy’s Care, Morigaon, and thanked the organisation for conducting the camp. She stressed the need for rabies vaccination of pet dogs and cats and urged owners to arrange vaccination drives with the help of the Veterinary Department for stray dogs to prevent the spread of rabies.
Earlier, District Veterinary Officer Dr Nilutpal Kakaty felicitated the invited guests with traditional gamusas at the camp. The programme was attended by Joint Director of Health Dr Arun Nath, social workers Mrinal Gohain, Mrinal Hazarika and Pinaki Bhushan Mahanta, representatives from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department including Dr Haricharan Nath, Dr Atmika Burman and Dr Jyotika Kalita, as well as Babul Nath and other staff members. Among others present were Atreya Kakati, Porashar Nath, Ramen Bora and Ashique Ali.
