GUWAHATI: The Tax Bar Association, Guwahati recently organised a study circle meeting at The Ornate Hotel, Ulubari, on the topic “Income Tax Act, 2025 and Union Budget 2026.”
Study Circle Committee chairman CA Rakesh Kumar Agarwala delivered the welcome address, while the session was chaired by association president CA Pankaj Khandelia.
In his remarks, Khandelia highlighted the importance of the topics and expressed hope that the meeting would help participants better understand issues significant for taxpayers as well as professionals.
He also informed that, as in previous years, the association had submitted a pre-budget memorandum to the Union finance minister, some suggestions from which were incorporated in the Union Budget 2026.
Speaker CA Somesh Bose explained the changes introduced in the new Income Tax Act, 2025, and presented a detailed comparison between the old and the new provisions.
CA Anil Kumar Agarwala elaborated on key changes announced in the Union Budget 2026 through a presentation.
During the programme, CA Mannu Kashliwal, chairman of the Newsletter and Publication Committee, released the first e-newsletter of the association for 2025–26.
CA Mantu Kumar Agarwalla, chairman of the Membership Development Committee, also welcomed newly enrolled members by presenting membership certificates and kits.
A large number of chartered accountants, company secretaries, cost accountants, advocates and tax consultants attended the meeting and participated in an interactive discussion session. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by secretary CS Chandra Shekhar Sharma.
