Rabi Ram Narzary lays foundation stones for six bridges in Kokrajhar

Boost to rural connectivity as RCC bridges replace dilapidated wooden structures under ARRBP in Kokrajhar district.

GOSSAIGAON, Feb 16: MLA and BTC Executive Member Rabi Ram Narzary on Monday laid the foundation stones for six RCC bridges in the 2 No Dotma Legislative Assembly Constituency in Kokrajhar district.

The bridges will replace several dilapidated wooden structures located in the 5 No Saraibil Council Constituency under Gossaigaon subdivision, as well as in parts of Kachugaon and Dotma.

The projects aim to improve road connectivity and ease long-standing transportation difficulties faced by local residents.

Under the Assam Resilient Rural Bridges Programme (ARRBP) for the financial year 2025–26, the foundation stone of a bridge over the Pagla river on the 1 No Hatigarh–2 No. Hatigarh road was laid.

Another bridge over the Pagla river connecting Rajadabri to National Highway-27 under the Kachugaon PWD Sub-Division was also inaugurated.

Foundation stones were also laid for bridges connecting Joylaigaon to Kopargaon (Angtihara), Sinslibari to Patakata road, Bhaoraguri–Kachugaon road to Narenguri link road, and Chekadani to Narenguri road.

Speaking on the occasion, Narzary said replacing old wooden and bamboo bridges with permanent RCC structures would significantly improve communication and benefit students, patients, farmers and traders.

He expressed hope that the projects would provide much-needed relief to residents who have long faced transportation challenges.

He also assured that the State Government and the BTC administration would jointly work to accelerate development in the region and announced that foundation stones for a total of 20 bridges and pucca roads would be laid over the next three days.

BTC Executive Member Mrityunjay Narzary, who was present, said the bridges and roads would be constructed using CC blocks to ensure durability.

Among others present were Boni Prasad Bodo, president of Kachugaon Block, Aftab Uddin Sheikh, president of Saraibil Block Committee, and several local leaders and citizens.
