The students union has decided to boycott the visiting scheduled of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister in the several districts of BTC and Upper Assam.

Speaking the reporters at Habrubil Gossaigaon on Tuesday, Durga Soren, ASSU vice president told that the BJP party has nothing done welfare and developmental activities for the Santhal community across the state.

Soren said that during the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, PM Narendra Modi had promised that the Santhal/ Adivasi community of Assam along with six other communities would be granted Scheduled Tribe (ST) status within six months.

However, he said that not only six months but more than six years have passed and the community has still not been granted ST status. He also alleged that during the Prime Minister’s visits to Assam, he has never mentioned the issue of granting ST status. Therefore, the organisation said they have no interest in listening to the speeches of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister and appealed to the Santhal community not to attend their public meeting even organising during the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

He also said that if Ashok Singhal comes to Gossaigaon for election campaigning, he will be greeted with black flags.

The student organisation also expressed anger against the BPF government led by Hagrama Mohilary in BTC, alleging that no nominated council member or CSB members from the Santhal community was appointed during its tenure.
