KOKRAJHAR, May 2: The 13-day-long Nasha Mukt Rally for building a decent society, organised by the Brahma Kumaris Centre, Kokrajhar, concluded on Saturday.
As part of the programme, the Nasha Mukt rally fostering a drug-free society was brought out in Kokrajhar town. The rally, joined by students, parents and residents of Kokrajhar town, started at the Kokrajhar Govt HS&MP School playground and moved towards Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr. A symbolic Ravana made of drug substances was burnt at Green Field, with students pledging to stay away from alcohol and other intoxicants. Students also performed street dramas highlighting the ill effects of drugs on youth and society.
Speaking to media persons, BK Rajiv of the Medical Wing of the International Brahma Kumaris Centre, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, said the noble initiative was organised by the Kokrajhar Brahma Kumaris Seva Kendra for the well-being of society. He said the sole objective of the rally was to build a drug-free and decent society. He added that drugs and alcohol have a negative impact on society and urged youth to stay away from them.
It may be mentioned that the Brahma Kumaris Seva Kendra, Kokrajhar has been actively working for a drug-free society through mobile van rallies and awareness meetings, encouraging youth and civil society to stay away from drugs and alcoholism since April 19.
Sources from the Kokrajhar Brahma Kumaris Seva Kendra informed that awareness programmes began at the indoor stadium of the All-Bodoland Taekwondo Association and were held across multiple institutions and public places including Kendriya Vidyalaya Kokrajhar, Mainao Taxi Stand, Debargaon Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sikhna Jwhwlao Tata Mobile Taxi Stand, Chandrapara Bihutali, Maspara local market, Saint Auxilleum School, TSME School, Dotma, Dotma HS School, Dotma Girls’ HE School, Moonstars English Medium School, Chandrapara ME School, Titaguri ME School, Little Flower English Medium School and DN Himatsingha HE School, involving teachers, students, parents and local residents.
