Khirud Baruah Memorial Trophy: Nagoan Trumps Hojai 6-1

DIPHU, Sept 1:  The qualifying matches for Zone – C of the 70th Senior Inter – District football championship for Khirud Baruah Memorial Trophy started here at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium on Thursday.

In Thursday’s match, the Nagoan team won with a huge margin of 6-1 against Hojai District.

The first goal for Nagoan was scored in 3 minutes by Moneswar Mahila. Hojai team managed to reply back in the 6 minutes through a goal score by Deepjoyti Roy.

With technical change by Nagaon coach and scored goals one after another. Stricker Bhagya Rabha scored the second goal for Nagaon in 28 minutes, while the third goal was scored by Mridul Das in 32 minutes and fourth goal by Arun Tamti in 42 minutes. The first half ended with a score 4-1.

For the Hojai team it was no match to the invading Nagaon boys.

In the second half Nagaon pumped in two more goals. The fifth goal was scored by Lakhya Das in 50 minutes and the winning goal was scored by Arun Tanti in 77 minutes.

The final score line was 1-6 by Nagaon.

The match was witnessed by MLA, Bidyasing Engleng; president, Greater Diphu Sports Association (GDSA, Gautom Terang and general secretary,Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA), Dr. Pankaj TeronTeron including sports persons and football fans.

Tomorrow match will be played between Karbi Anglong and Kaliabor. Kick off time is 3.30 pm.
