Karbi Anglong Reach Khirud Baruah Memorial Trophy Final

DIPHU, Sept 12: Karbi Anglong team is through to the final at the 70th Senior Inter – District Football Championship for Khirud Baruah Memorial Trophy after they defeated Nazira in the semi-final match played at Salabari District Sports Association Stadium, Baksa with a win of 2-0 on Sunday. This is the first time the Karbi Anglong has reached the tournament’s final.

For Karbi Anglong Deuri Kro opened the account for his team in the 15th minute of the first half through an assist by Harbamon Timung. In the 82nd minute of 2nd half the Karbi Anglong sealed the fate of Nazira after Harbamon Timung converted a kick from the penalty spot. With a win of 2-0 the Karbi Anglong team reached the final.

 

General Secretary, Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA), Dr. Pankaj Teron said it is for the first time the Karbi Anglong senior football team has reached the final of the Senior Inter-District Football Championship for Khirud Baruah Memorial Trophy. The KASA and football lovers of the district are happy to receive the good news. Under the able coach and manager of Horen Engti Kathar, who is also the football secretary of KASA has taken the team to the finals and has high expectations that Karbi Anglong will win in the final.

Karbi Anglong will face in their final on September 14 with the winner of the second semi-finals between Guwahati and Udalguri to be played on September 12.
