Contraband Seized In Karbi Anglong

BOKAJAN, Feb 27: More than 100 gms of heroin and 5 kg brown sugar was recovered in Karbi Anglong in two separate places.

On the evening of Sunday the police intercepted a car bearing registration number AS 15 S 4306, coming from Dimapur, Nagaland at Lahorijan Patrol Post. On thoroughly searching the car, 9 plastic soap cases containing heroin weighing a total of 104.63 grams were recovered. The contraband was kept concealed in the front dashboard and gear lever cover of the vehicle.

The driver of the car Md Nur Hussain (24), resident of Kahibari Pam, under Baghbor police station of Barpeta district and Md Junab Ali (27), resident of Sunbari Kalapani Bazar, under Gubordhona police station of Baksa district were arrested.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the psychotropic substance was brought from Dimapur, Nagaland and was supposed to be delivered at Barpeta.

In another police action, brown sugar was recovered at Bokajan CCI Gate around 3 pm on Monday from a bus passenger.

The police on searching a passenger of a bus recovered five packages of brown sugar. The carrier has been identified as Sunil Kumar Subhak (55), resident of Kagji Mahalla, district of Siwan, Bihar.

The contraband weighs 5 kg and the market value is around Rs 15 crore.
