SIVASAGAR, March 14: As it is a ritual in the Assamese marriage ceremony, the bride or the groom is lifted on the shoulder to take inside home after his or her ceremonial bath on a baie (temporary bamboo structureby a healthy personMintu Bora, did exactly that and lifted his cousin brother, the groom, and took him to his room. But minutes later he complained of acute chest pain and died of a massive cardiac arrest plunging the marry marriage ceremony in Garkasaria, Magarahat near Sivasagar on Saturday.

Mintu(21), a newly appointed 5th Assam Police Commando Battalion in Tamulpur, came home for his cousin’s brother’s marriage and was the only son of Hemanta Bora and Pinky Bora. He was a brilliant student and footballer in the village. His sudden death is condoled by the villagers through a meeting held yesterday in the public field after his body was brought back from the Jaysagar hospital. Magarahat Mayurddhaj Library, Kalugaon Press Club, Magarahat High School and Sivasagar Sports Association, and a host of other organisations condoled his death.
